Breakfast in Rihga Hotel Zest Takamatsu
Lounge or bar in Rihga Hotel Zest Takamatsu
Lobby or reception in Rihga Hotel Zest Takamatsu
1) Room arrangement - We booked 2 rooms and stated that we want to be on the same floor, which the hotel did arranged it, so we are grateful for that. 2) Leave luggage service - Because this was a family cycling trip which we brought our own bike from abroad therefore we needed to store our suitcases for the days when we're on the road. We have booked this hotel for the last day of our trip before flying back also, and the hotel has luggage storage facility available for returning guests to lock and store the luggage near the lobby area. In fact this is one of the main reason we booked this hotel. 3) Breakfast - The Buffet breakfast was heaven! I've already read reviews from other guest that the breakfast was good, but I didn't expected to be that good. There's western and Japanese style breakfast, there's even a chef there to cook different kinds of eggs for the guests. 4) Actual room - The single room is a normal size of a room in Japan, but the twin room is fairly spacious and it's bigger than expected and in comparison to the other hotels we stayed, and there's everything you need in the room. The rooms are all decorated with painting on the wall and a feature wall where a different kind of wall paper is used. The bathroom unit is also bigger compare to the other hotel we stayed in Japan, it felt spacious and you could move about freely without worrying that you'll hit the wall. If you look into the details, you can tell they've put in a lot of effort in the rooms. 5) Staff - Some staff doesn't speak English but some does, so there's no issue in communicating, and even with that staff that doesn't speak English, it was easy enough to google translate to communicate. 6) Location - It's a 3 minutes walk from airport bus stop when going from the airport, and the bus stop to the airport is right outside of the hotel entrance, so it's super convenience to and from the airport.

We priorly stayed 2 nights at this hotel, and also booked it for our last night in Takamatsu before flying back home, so total 3 nights. At our last stay, we arrived early at the hotel with our bikes (as we have been traveling city to city with our bikes) but the luggage area was full, and we didn't want to leave our bikes (foldable) at the normal bike parking place due to they're quite valuable, and the hotel staffs offered to let us leave the bikes near the front desk so they could keep an eye on them. It was very kind of them and am impressed that they're very flexible about it. Amenities are available at the hotel lobby as well as tea bags or coffee (UCC drip bag coffee). The hotel also uses Imabari towels, which says a lot about their standard. I was impressed. Rooms were great, breakfast was amazing, wished my stomach is bigger so I could try everything. The hotel is also close to many great udon shops and there's maps in English and Japanese at the front desk. The bus stop for the airport bus is right outside of hotel front door, so it's super convenient for us as we had a lot of luggage. Highly recommend this hotel if you don't need to be right next door to JR station or the ferry pier.

We paid a bit extra for a larger room & it was very spacious, as was the en-suite. The bedroom & bathroom were a little dated, but very good quality fittings. The bedroom window actually opened, which was welcome. The biggest positive for this hotel was the delicious (& regional options) at breakfast, plus the two ladies who run the show in the breakfast room. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter & good humour. We hope the management realise their worth! Oh, and the location is fabulous, too. Less than a minute from all the arcades, with easy access to Ritsurin Gardens, ferry port & JR Station. We would stay again if coming back to Takamatsu.

Sarah

The .location is excellent, about 5 minutes easy walk from the station, with busses and convenience stores right outside. It's super close to fantastic restaurants and the shopping mall. The breakfast is sumptuous with a huge buffet of asian and Western food, and a chef to cook your eggs just how you like them. The room was very large, and the bathroom was enormous. The staff were very helpful and provided us with blankets rather than a duvet, which is too hot for us. Its quiet and convenient, and you can also open the window a little to let in some fresh air.

Bruce

For the price and location, it was a good compromise as it was about a 10-15 minute walk from the JR station and boat ports and maybe 20-30 minute walk to Ritsurin Garden. Of course if you don't like walking, there's a bus stop just outside. Room was typical of Japanese hotel but I never mind as long as the bed is comfy and there is a private bathroom to use. A ton of places to eat as it is a block away from an arcade of restaurants. Convenience stores are nearby in abundance like always.
